I have about had it with these **** 37 year old cars. I was putting my new spring in on the driver side. All went well until I lowered the LCA down off the jack. The assembly kept falling. I said ***? Then I noticed the UCA bump stop (brand new) is not in the frame where it is supposed to be. So I jack the whole assembly back up, and feel around and sure enough that sumbitch pulled through the frame. How in the world could that possibly happen? The load from the UCA forces it down. There is nothing I can think of that would have caught on it when I jacked everything up to get the LCA ball joint into the steering knuckle, but the thing ripped right through the frame going upwards.
Anybody want to but a 70 Chevelle

I got over $20K into it. I'm not selling, just PO'd. It was anaftermarket stop that pulled through the frame when I tightened down the bolt. The original was kept in place with a rubber grommet. I can fix it, but it will be tough to work in there now the spring is installed.

Given the relative simplicity of removing a spring that has been freshly bolted in I'd just remove the darned thing and go after the bump stop when I had decent working room.

I know people can get pretty frustrated BUT please refrain from using the "F" word
I assembled mine with no UCA bumpers and put them in later by jacking up the control arms and using a tool to reach things from high places, no big deal.
