Right now I have a mild 350 with a th350 and a peg leg 10 bolt with 2.73 gears. My question is, if I went to a th700r4 or th200r4 with a 3.31 posi would it help me a lot in performance.

My engine has headers, 2 1/2" exhaust, performer intake and cam, and also a q-jet. My tires are 215/60/14. So I think they are about 24 inches tall.

I noticed a slight dif between 2.73 gears and 3.08, so I imagine 3.31 would feel pretty good.

I also replaced my 350 with a 700. The 700 is heavier and takes more power to run, but the low 1st and 2nd gear are a lot of fun, then you can lock it in overdrive and cruise upwards of 100 if you want to with 3.08 gears, my tires are 295/50/15...I don't remember how tall they are.

If you're talking about for a daily driver, I'd do it. For a more race oriented car keep the 350 and get deep rearend gears.

the 3.31's will definately help it accellerate. i'd try that first, then if you can't deal with the extra rpms on the highway, then get you a good 200r4. although the first gear is lower in the 700r4, every car i've ever seen that went from a th350 or th400 to a 700r4 slowed down at the track because of the dramatic fall-off between 1 and 2 and 2 to 3 shifts. .02
