thanx Why won't the gm gear work? Is it the dist. shaft size or are you going to a solid roller?

I ran a Chet Herbert solid roller with a bronze gear on the street. Lasted about 10k miles, more than they said it would. Problem was when it went out I was late to work and that isn't a quick fix on the side of the road. look at a different cam manufacter, there are too many using cast gears now.

I am running the Comp composite gear in my solid roller 454. 255 / 262 at .050 .652 lift. Approx 1000 street miles and I just looked at the gear, looks 99.99% brand new. I think it is worth the money

I talked to an engine builder who said that they have been seeing good results with the polymer gear. Its will still require more checking and replacement than stock though.
