I've owned my chevelle for 18 years, and would like to know the past owners names and locations, states it was in, were it was purchased when it was new. Has anyone ever researched this before? If so how did you do it. I live in pa and was wondering if it can be done?

Not going to be easy as names and address are protected personal information and you will find many a road blocks to that info if it even still exists.

I had to get a title for a '70 that I bought with a bill of sale. I went to the licence place and she said the car was in the system. I asked if she could give me the owners name to inquire about the title and she said no. I could however swear on an affidavit that the car was legally mine and she would give me a title. Here in Ontario Canada when selling a car you need to purchase a "seller's package". I had to buy it when replacing the title, and in it were the past owner's names. I don't no why all the secrecy when in the end I had the history of the car anyway. I also did know the last owner and when I asked about the car he was surprised because he had sold the car in 1991!

The new laws and even some of the old ones are meant to protect one's privacy, not that I would mind someone hunting me down to ask about a chevelle or other car I may have owned at one time for information. I know NC requires you to state you will not attempt to contact the individuals in the history paper work and they will send what they might have. good luck hunting it down. Take care Andy

I found an old DMV title transfer stub in my 70 chevelles glove box from 1980. I managed to get the phone number from a computer search and the guy's father still lives at the address. I called him and he gave me the phone number to his son who owned it. I haven't yet got ahold of him.
