I just re-assembled my dash in the '65 and OF COURSE had a few pieces left over. I took it apart back in December and can't remember where this one goes. It's made of black rubber, wedge shaped, has a natural slit in the middle and is about an inch long. I had it bagged up with the radio and glove box parts, but won't swear that's the place it came from. Any ideas???

part of the speaker assembly...should go on the bracket, front side and the bracket fits in the 'slot' in the rubber.

It may be the bumper that fits the lever that keeps the glovebox door from falling all the way down. If I remember right it cushions the stop so you don't have metal to metal contact. That is my guess, its a bit hard to tell from the pic what it is or how big it is.

Thanks Mike - I think you're right. I'll take down the speaker bracket and confirm.
Rick - thanks for the reply. I did have a similar rubber piece on the glove box door. it does exactly what you say. Different shape and I actually remembered where that one went.

If I remember right... it removes vibration as it rests against the inside of the dash wall above the glove box....
My pleasure to help.
