I have one of the old seat belt bolts that was used in the hole at the transmission hump. This bolt has about a 1/2 non-threaded portion next to the head. I converted from bench to bucket seats so there will be only two (shoulder and waist) belts on each bolt instead of three. Will the extra slop cause problems like vibration noise or is it normal to have a lot of slop there?

Anyone? I know plenty of people have converted from bench to buckets? Did you use the same belt bolts?

I've never heard of the bolts being different in that way. I do know that '66 and earlier cars used a fine thread bolt, and '67 and later used the coarse thread. In your case, it shouldn't matter on the seat selection. The unthreaded part was just used to keep the seatbelt anchor from binding on the floor when mounted. You should be o.k.

I could be wrong about this but I believe they would be the same bolts for bench or bucket...

Thanks. If they clank around, I'll use washers or something.
