: 65 Chevelle question
oldtimebaseballfan May 16th, 07, 11:05 PM If the interior on a 65 is red...will the optional pad on the dash top be red or black? Does anyone have any pics of a 65 red interior? I am curious about the area around the speedometer, the color of the surround.
Stalkingbear May 17th, 07, 12:36 AM Mine was red.... it was 'sun destroyed' in Arizona and I had a black one and replaced it.
I do not have a picture of the original red interior before I replaced everything. I do, however, have a picture of the dash surround after replacing the dash pad with black.

oldtimebaseballfan May 17th, 07, 10:20 PM That is a beautiful interior. Does that have the padded top? I thought the seats were 2 tone. What is your trim code? Your surround looks great.
70 Gold Nugget May 17th, 07, 10:33 PM That is sharp...
Stalkingbear May 17th, 07, 10:57 PM Ok... here is a picture with the black pad.

Did you restore your surround? Mine doesn't look like that, it is a pale looking color, almost looks like plastic. Is there a repro for those?
eyewanta65 May 20th, 07, 12:36 AM Hi Oldtime, thanks for the compliment . Yes there is a pad on the dash. I believe there are 2 codes for the red SS interior. If I recall correctly the 2 tone is normally in convertables. My interior code is 786. The dash bezel is a repop. I'm very happy with the quality of it. I think they cost about $125. Thanks Scott
oldtimebaseballfan May 20th, 07, 10:15 AM Bear,
Thanks for the pic. What is your trim code? What color was the dash pad originally? Is your surround original?
Thanks,
Tim
oldtimebaseballfan May 20th, 07, 10:16 AM Scott,
Thanks for the info. Did you buy it from Ground Up?
Thanks,
Tim
Stalkingbear May 20th, 07, 11:53 AM The surround is original... the pad is from my wrecked '65 which was a black interior. When I removed it from the other car, there were no repop's of the dash pad so it has been around a while and is an original black pad. It is in excellent shape considering it came out of Tucson, Arizona.
My SS was a two tone red when I got it... but VERY sun damaged.
