hello on the forum!
Is there somebody who nows how
a merlin 540 ci tall deck (10.200)fits in a chevelle?
And what about the valve cover (high),and brake
booster(how much inches must it be?)
And what kind of headers can i use?
How looks like the best high performance street exhaust?
For all who can help me ;Thanks a lot!!!!

in general, it fits very poorly

you'll need a 4" cowlhood

you'll need the smallest diameter booster you can find

AFAIK, there is no off the shelf header that will fit. you're looking at a set of custom built headers.

kind of a tough deal altogether.

I can tell you with my 540 Merlin (9.800" deck) the fit was about right. I have a 4" cowl and there was barely enough room between the hood and the air filter (5" if I remember correctly.) Everything else fit fine, including the 2" super comp headers and no problem with the brake booster and valve covers.
With the 10.2" like Tom said you might have some issues.
Good luck.

Eddy, I like nothing more than unbridled enthusiasm - but you really need to decide how much of a cruiser or dragstrip car you want. Anything will *fit*, even a large roots style blower smile.gif

It is my experience that usually when someone asks a question the way you have, that person is getting ready to bite off on a huge project without much of a background. Nothing wrong with that, just don't expect much of an easy "bolt on installation" when you decide to use serious hard core racing components. Even on the internet, if you look at many of the tall deck engine/car combos you will find that the hard core racing cars have motor plates and trans plates and other fabricated parts (headers etc.).

My point is simple: it serves no great purpose to use a tall deck engine on a street car. You will never likely build it up to a power level that will benifit from the tall deck configuration. And if you can't make enough power with a standard deck big block...well, then I don't know what to say.
