I did a search but came up empty.
I have a set of the vortec heads sitting in the garage waiting for the 383 build-up, which has been put off about a year so that I can rebuild the 350 in Amyes Camaro.
I was wondering, since I already have the heads, why not use em on the 307 until the 383 is ready.
Has anyone put the Vortecs on the mini-mouse motors? As long as the valves will clear the bores, I can't think of any reason they would'nt work.
Any ideas or suggesstions?
Thanks
Dwayne

No experience, but I hope you try it and report back to us. I have been thinking that with the smaller chambers (and thus increased compression) plus superior design, a set of Vortecs and a small hydraulic cam would make a smokin' 307. Mid-14's in a Chevelle for sure, maybe quicker.
Stock valves in 307 heads are something like 1.72/1.50, but I put a set of 350 heads on a 307 with 1.94/1.50 valves, and it worked fine. What are the valves in Vortecs, 1.94/1.55? Should work fine. A 307 has a larger bore than a 305.

Never done it, but the valves should clear the bores fine - didn't they put Vortecs on 305's?
Anyway, I liked the idea so much I had to plug it into DD2k and see what would work well together. With flat top pistons the 62cc Vortecs make 9.0:1 compression on a 307. With a dual plane intake, 600 cfm carb, small headers, and a Comp XE262 hyd FT cam DD2k sez 335 HP @ 6000 RPM. Not bad for a little smogger engine . . .
i believe the 305 vortecs are different bore spacing than the other larger cube engines' vortecs. they have a different casting number.
personally i wouldn't wast any time modifying the 307, but if you're bored with it and you have the time to spare, i'm sure they would work better than any other head available. probably pick up 25-35 hp with a head swap from original 307 heads.

Eric, other than the stock heads on mine, you have just described my 307.
Since the Vortec intake gaskets are re-usable, all that I would be out of are a set of head gaskets and a satuday afternoon.
I am seriously considering this swap. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
