has anyone tried spraying their intake with VHT clear flameproof coating? i get tired of the constant scrubbing to keep my intake looking new.has anyone had success with any clear coatings for long-lasting protection? i'm considering polishing mine smooth if thats what it takes to keep it looking good.

Unless you block off the exhaust crossover,it will turn yellow.

When you spill gas, it'll turn yellow.

I keep my intake looking just like new by wiping it down with laquer thinner..the surface was glass beaded, and its easy to keep clean.

I just keep my motor clean and don't give it a chance to get dirty. When it does get some spots on the metal, I use never dull, wendol, and some purple polish. On the front of the motor i use some degreaser then spray it with water. I have never had much luck with coatings, as the manufacturer usually thinks more highly of his product than what the end user does.

Mine was a bit stained when I got the motor so I cleaned it and shot it with hi-temp ceramic "cast aluminum" spray paint. It still looks good and has had the gas spilled on it and didn't peel the paint and seems to wipe up a bit easier than before. All I have seen out of guys either painting them or powdercoating them clear is they all turn yellow. looks good to me....

thanks guys,i'll steer clear of the VHT clear on the intake.i'll just use it over my VHT flat black header paint, maybe the yellow won't show.

If you want a "clear coat" that won't yellow with heat or gas exposure use Glycin PC from POR-15. I've had it on my Super Vic for over a year with no yellowing at all. Very good product. Just have your intake blasted before applying. It applies with a sponge brush to leave a smooth brushless finish.
