I recently had my tranny rebuilt. Before the rebuild my car would pull hard to 5700rpm.The new tranny shifts fine(chirps second gear), but when I manually start off in first gear it get to about 4200 rpm and start acting like it doesn't want to pull,I then shift into second and so on. If I leave it in drive at WOT from a stop it shifts at about 4200rpm. What could be the problem???

Could be that with a shift kit, the trans is actually applying some pressure to the reverse clutches.

I know it used to have a Transgo shift kit in it. The new builder said he was going to put his own shift kit in it.

Assuming the downshift cable is hooked up, you just need to re-program your governor. This is pretty easy to do on a TH350, you just need an inexpensive set of governor weights and springs from B&M.

Thanks Mike, I have that B&M Kit. I asked the tranny builder if he would correct the problem in the govenor and he said no, he would fix it in the valve body.
