355ci 9.8:1CR
Phase2 bowtie heads
Performer rpm intake
850cfm holley
1 5/8 headers
2 1/2" exahust with 2 chamber flowmasters dumped at the axle
4.11 gears
(havent decided on what stall converter yet)help with that would be thanked too

I have been trying to decide on what cam i want to go with, I was looke at the 280megacam from isky

its a hydraulic flat tappet 280/280 232/232@.5
.485/.485 lift 108degrees, i want my cam to pull in higher rpms and have a pretty rough idle

thanks

there are probably better suited cams out there, but i like that ISKY grind too. i think you may have too much carb, but as long as you are going with that cam and that carb, i would get around a 3200-3500 stall, if you get an off the shelf convertor. otherwise i'd call up ATI, JW, Yank, or whoever and tell them what you have and have them make you up a convertor for your combo. but that's fairly pricey.

If you want it to pull in the higher rpms then why don't you go to a solid cam? The XS282S would be well suited to your compression ratio and your gearing. Slap in a 3000+ stall in there and you're good to go.

This will be my daily driver and id rather stay with the hydraulic, dont want to deal with the valvelash all the time

I agree with the carb being too big for that engine combo (I think a 650-700cfm would work best), also a bit less cam would work better for a "daily driver" something around a 225/225 @.050 duration works wonders on a daily driver and would put your HP peak around 5500-6000rpm while giving you a healthy lope at idle. Also the 1 5/8 tube headers are a nice match for the engine size and a daily driver, really bumps up the torque 3000-3500rpm range.

Brian,
I think you would be happier with the 274 Mega Hyd & it will still be pretty "lumpy"
A 750 would be as big as I would go on the Carb. Try a 1" open spacer on the intake after you get it runnin to see if it likes it.
If you email me I can probably save you a buck or two on the Isky cam & lifters ;)

OR an Isky solid cam like the Z-25 or a Z-27??

i Dont see a 274 MEGA HYDRA only a 270 and a 270/280. What size converter would you suggest? And what would you think the car would idle at in gear.

It's listed in the oval track section.

Try part# 201274 on their site.
Idle speed, probably about 700-750 but it depends a lot on ign advance, carb, converter etc.

I'm sorry, my "brain dead" sorta deal..

BUT I would still run a solid cam anyway!! They just tend ta make more free power everywhere vs a hy-cam, imho...

Just a hair on the big side but OK IMO. That 280* is really more like 285* the way Isky specs their advertised duration.
