Can anyone tell me how to get a glove box latch/lock mechanism removed from the glovebox door on a 69 Chevelle if you do not have a key?

Does having the key make a difference?

I'm planning on using the techref technique to remove my old one, but the used replacement that I bought (which is still on its door) came with a key.
