I have a friend that I help with his strip only chevelle -69. This weekend we lost a roller lifter that also damaged a camlobe  . We had a new lifter with us so we were able to finish the racing, but now we need a new cam.

So we need your's advice of what solid roller would be the best for us.
Our best so far is 8,77 and 160 mph at 1/4 mile with 60 foot of 1,39. Our goal is to run low 8's and 160+ mph.
The spec. of the car is:
Alston tubular chassi , 2910 ibs with driver
9 inch rearend with 3,90 gear and 33x16x15 slicks
TH 400 with Transbrake
10" spragless custom turbine whith 5000 stall
2,5" primary tube headers
433 cui L88 -69 corvette block, comp. 12,5:1
WP Merlin ported iron heads with 2,25/1,9 valves
Modified Weiand tunnelram intake with dual 750dp
Bigshoot nos system with 300+ hp pills :D :D
Drysump oiling system
Locked out ignition, MSD 7, Nos and start retards
The only thing I know about the damaged cam is that is a Lunati whit ,714 intake lift.(lost camcard..).

So what roller cam do we need to reach our goals and to handle the Nos?

Kind regards Stefan B.

Not a cam recommendation, but why the 3.90 gears and such a tall tire? I was just wondering if you could pick up some ET with more gear, but am not sure what your RPMs through the traps are.

Sounds like your cam isn't too far off now . . . you could degree it to find out exactly what you have, then add or subtract some timing to move the power band a little if you need to.

Do you have flow numbers for the heads?

Thank's for the reply Eric68 !

Well, when we build the rearend and picked the 3,90 gears we had a 632 cui shafiroff build engine. After just 5-6 test passes at the track we melted a couple of pistons and cracked the block :( . So the 632 sits in the engine stand waiting for parts and better budget ;) . So we took the 433 from my friends street/strip camaro and raced with that engine instead.

The heads was purchased used, so we don't have any flownumbers on them, but they are heavily ported .
I think we have a 4,56 or 4,88 in the garage , maybe we should try that?

We also have a Chet Herbert SG6 ( I think that,s the right number of it) roller whit lift in .680 range in the garage , but I think we could do better with a new camdesign.

So any suggestions on a cam ?

In my opinion the 3.90s are fine with the 400, gives you an SLR in the 9.20s area...

As far as cam goes, I can not help you there, but a bunch of people lately have had great success with Bullet cams...you might want to look at their web site or call them.

Good luck.

Stefan B,

I take it you run NO2 all the time, with the 3.90 rear gear.
If you do, I can make you a custom cam, part nr 50299, grind nr 02-UR53-UR7-112-A01. This is a 313/324 at .020, 282/292 at .050, 197/203 at .200, .725/.725 at the valve, and 112 LSA. It is very reliable and makes great power. It is my standard cam for EFI 540s, and Chris Childes has won a number of races and set lap records too with this cam in Cam-Am cars in Europe.
Any 468 weighing under 2900 lbs does not run in the 9s with this cam, throttle only, no NO2.

Yes, we run NO2 all the time, so that's sound very interesting !

I want to purchase the cam you suggested for us.

How do I, from Sweden, contact you ( phone,fax,E-mail?) to buy that cam?

And I will also thank you for your excellent advice's and expertis here at Team chevelle ! graemlins/beers.gif

Kind Regards
