Ok, I don't recall sitting so high or so far forward, but with new foam and upholstery my heads about an inch from the roof, and thats before installing the headliner. The seat is all the way back and legroom is fine, but headroom is a concern, too bad the seat didn't recline. Anyway has anyone found different seat tracks that allows the seat to sit lower or have modified the existing tracks or any other tricks. I've sat in bucket seats and they seem to sit lower. suggestions.....

might try putting some spacers under the front floor mounts to kick the seat back a little.

Those new seat foams take a while to 'shrink'. They are like over-stuffed pillows to begin with. I've heard that many installers cut the new foam down because it's too thick.

Here's what I did (from what I remember) when the same thing happened in my 66 over ten years ago.

Placed about 600lbs of barbell weights on a blanket/piece of plywood in the hot sun for about two weeks.

Removed the rear rubber bump stops on the bottom of the seat.

I put my feet up against the dash somehow ( can't remember exactly) and with my butt on the top of the seat back, I bent the seat back a little bit, so it 'reclined' just enough.

Those techniques worked for me.

Thought about the spacers on the front mount bolts. When I did the seats the foam wasn't too large, just firmer than the old (missing) original stuff.
I thought about taking the seat out and laying it on its back with weights on the back for a couple of days to compress the foam a little.

PTHC...I have buckets, but just posted a thread about this last month. At
6'1" my head was in the headliner with the new foam installed! I took out the rubber stops from the seat bottom, quickly cut new ones from some 1/4" thick hard rubber (this is half the stock thickness of 1/2"), and the seat now lays back about 1 1/2" at the top. It makes all the difference and for some reason makes me feel a little more secure than altering or inclining the tracks. Just my $.02

Thats how I will be one I put the headliner in. At 6'3" I know what your dealing with, thats why I need more room. I appreciate the input. I didn't think about the seat stops, I'll have to get on that and get some more headroom.
