OK all you power :D guy's.A little information please.
454 450 hp standard HEI ignition/no msd box.
mechanical fuel pump.holley 750 mech double pumper
NOS has a kit for the square bore carbs, 100 to 150 HP gain.
how well do you think it will run?
Will it destroy the engine? graemlins/sad.gif
will I feel the difference when the NOS is used?

You will definetly feel the difference when you hit the nitrous, it's like adding instant 150 hp. 100-150 seems like a bit much for a Cast crank (if that's what's in this motor?) and stock rods. "NOS" the company says the 50-75 is usually safe on a stock motor. This is just from what I've read and played with. Hope I could help.

How many GPH is that pump?

Red, we need to know more about your engine in order to tell you if it will hold-up or not. Mainly your piston type will determine how much and how long. If you have forged pistons your in good shape, hyper some say yes but 125ish max and others say don't spray hypers, but definitly not on a cast piston. Also you will feel the diffrence with No2, as far as time improvments maybe somebody else here can help out with that.
Good Luck and Good Racin', Jeff

Thanks,
we do not know the piston type. the pump is stock GM.
this kit says 100 HP shot. this is the most i would like to run.
it is for the street, just to blow the dust off the car once a week.

I don't think you'll have any trouble with the bottom end, I'm running a stock 2-bolt main block with cast crank and stock 3/8 rods that were polished, shot peened and arp bolt. I've ran 128 mph in the quarter, in a 3800 lb car that equates to around 700 flywheel horsepower. I'm currently running a Procharger P600 on the car, before that I had nitrous on the car and with a 75hp shot went from 12.40s to 11.40s.

Like all the other posts said, know what you got before you spray it. Forged pistons, ect. I have a 454 H.O. crate motor that has the forged pistons 7/16 rod bolts, steel crank. I sprayed with 275 HP worth of nitrous at least 50 times and it is fine. Still has excellent oil psi, no knocks, runs great. If you set it up correctly, you wont hurt the motor. Make sure you have a fuel psi safety switch and a wide open throttle switch. That way you almost cant screw up. Buy a nitrous book if you dont know anything about it. Thats what i did. It helps to understand exactically what is going on (theory). You WILL love the H.P. increase!

I had an 88 IROC TPI 350 with a 150 hp plate system that knocked a full second off the ET. Stock cast crank, stock cast pistons, stock, skinny late model rods. No problems ever. Just make sure you have adequate fuel delivery for the nitrous system, cut back the timing, and run a colder plug and you will be fine. It is a real kick in the pants. Like others have said, get a book or at least read up on it a little bit. I had some initial trial and error (melted plug electrodes, lean backfires), but never once hurt the motor. A 454 is a much beefier piece than a small block.
