I'm putting together a 383 and I was wondering would it be a good idea to install some cam gears instead of the timming chain??? Summit sells a kit for $130, is it any good???

Here's my motor:

383sbc
Iron Eagle 64cc Heads
10.9 to 1 comp
Hyper. Flat top pistons
Zero Decked
Steel Crank
1.6 Magnum Roller Rockers

1 5/8 BlackJack Headers

Just my opinion but unless you have a good reason to use a gear drive like you are running a fuel pump off the cam,,,,
Use a good chain ;)

I agree with Mike....Geardrives are to noisy..I have never seen a problem out of a GOOD chain set, use the extra money elseware..

I've always heard gear drives cause unnecessary harmonics and leads to parts failure.
