Howzit, I was looking for some factory seat belts and I can't seem to find any. Do any of you know where I can get some? I need a complete set, mine are kind of old and crusty. It's for a bucket seat, no console, and DK Saddle interior. Thank's

Hey guys, here's a guy I met at a show last year that had a really nice selection of factory original belts:

fathead,
since you got nothing to lose, why not try running them thru the washing machine. You might be surprised at how well they come out. Yes, that's right. Put the whole seat belt, buckles and all in there.
If you can, pre soak them in a bucket of soapy water for a few days first to get them loosened up.
A good idea is to run some shop rags or some work clothes thru with them to reduce the metal to metal contact on the washers drum.

When done, just hang them out on the line as you would anything else.

I washed mine and they cleaned up pretty well. The plastic buckles and covers come right off, so the only metal in the machine was the sewn-on anchor.

I could still use a set of saddle-colored ones though....

Here's a complete Deluxe set I bought off of E-bay last week. I only paid $89. I think I may have stolen them.

I'm going to have them restored in Red but the point is, good deals are still out there on Ebay.

Thank's for the info, i'll try it but I still can't believe somebody does'nt have reproduction belts that are made for the chevelle. I'm still looking at ebay for the belts but saddle ones are hard to come by, should have made my interior black but I wanted to keep it the original color, big mistake!

There are companies out there that will completely restore your belts, but expect to spend big bucks.

Be careful when shopping for used belts. You may just end up with belts that are in worse shape than yours. Look out for rust on the chrome.

What exactly is wrong with yours?

Howzit guy's, boy i didn't know it was so hard to get replacements for my belts. It's not that it's wasted but it's hard and the buckles are alittle scratched up, i'll try to soak it and see if it gets better. I just got my new OPG catalog and they have some replacement belts but the retractable ones that I need are only in black, they have non-retractable ones in saddle though, so I don't know!

Not sure if OPG will have the retractors by themselves, But I am pretty sure Year One, Cars INC, and Classic Industries has them.
I am just starting my first Chevelle type project, so I am not sure what all is out there. However, just finished my 59 Elky last year, and realized that quite a few parts went from body to body, Might not hurt to look in a Full Size Chev catalog for some of these parts.

I have simple retractors on my mousey 66----no cover or nothin.

So it's the webbing and the buckles you need? The webbing I heard could be changed to something that looks like Saddle at some uphosltery shops if you don't HAVE to have original webbing. The buckles I would just try to buff them out cafefully. Don't regret going with the original color, you did good! You'll find a solution, maybe not as quick as you'd like but you will. I wouldn't put them in the washer unless you put tight socks over the buckles!

Great idea posted on this forum before was to weave the webbing in your diswasher around those thingymajigs that are in there to keep from bouncing around.

Hey Cali Girl thank's for the encouragement and your wagon looks pretty sharp. Herbie, I would put them in a dishwasher if I had one but I was thinking of using a steamcleaner instead, maybe that will clean them up. Anybody tried that?

Your welcome & Thank you! Two of my seat belts are original (Saddle) the others I had installed are just Bendix aftermarkets in tan (which looks identical to my Saddle ones). I don't want to pay $100 for some old Deluxe seat belts that are probably in worse shape than in the photos! But I do plan to change then back to original Deluxe if I ever find some in great shape or if they start making repros in Saddle.

I never washed mine cause they're not bad. But what I would have probably done is wait for a very hot summer day and just hose them down outside and add a little laundry soap. The hot sun would probablt dry the water in buckles in no time.

$100 will barely get you a restorable complete set. I've seen them going for $280 + if they are complete. If you can find a complete set with decent buckles for $100 buy them because you stole them!

Expect another $700-$800 to restore with polished buckles, new webbing with correct stiching and date tags.

If you want it to be right and your belts are shot it's going to cost you.

Really? I think it depends on the year. I bought one pair of green Deluxe seat belts correct for my 65 wagon for $75. But that's just one pair. I plan to switch the webbing if I can't find a good Saddle pair one day. But maybe I got lucky, I just bought them for the buckles which are nearly flawless and have the Fisher emblem intact. Maybe the belts for later years go for more. Cause mine are not like the photo posted on the first page. They are the chrome lift latch type, with the red shiny fisher emblem.
