I am taking the BBC and th400 out of my truck and putting it my chevelle wagon. Will I have any problems with the tranny mount? For example moving it back or forward. When i changed over from a T-10 to the 400, I had to move the mount back. Just don't want any surprizes, if you know what I mean. Oh Yea, the headers do you all usually lay them in the bay, before putting the motor in?

The TH400 is longer than the PG, TH350, or Muncie.
Does the motor have an oil pan that will fit the Chevelle? A truck pan does not fit. Also some trucks have a longtail TH400 which means a much shorter drive shaft.
And yes, headers in first. Tie them with some twine or use wire coat hangers to get them sort of in place but out of the way as you drop the motor in. Check them often as I almost crushed my headers between the motor and frame at one point.

my 400 has the short tail, the oil pan is another issue I am having. I put my 350 that was in the truck at one time in my wifes 46 ford, that has a 69 chevelle frame holding it up and had no probs. The pan on my bbc is the same style of pan that was on the 350, so I am hoping it will clear, if not I will zip down to the shop and get a pan. Do you know what the measurements of the correct pan are? I am very excited about putting that motor in the chevelle wagon. I am in the process of cleaning my garage now in anticipation of the transplant.
