Sportsman II iron heads with bowl work and a good valve job
11.5:1 compression
355"
Crane solid F/T cam
RPM dual plane intake
700cfm double pumper
1-3/4" headers
dynomax mufflers
3" head pipes
Powerglide, 10" Continental
4.56 gears

This car now runs 10.70's at 123mph with the bump in the compression (from 10.5) and some more head work.

last year (At the time of the photo) it had run a best of 10.80 and was dialed 11.03 in the photo.

Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads box stock
9.6:1 compression
388
Comp hyd F/T cam
RPM dual plane intake
650cfm double pumper
1 5/8 headers
2.5" dynomax mufflers
3" head pipes
Th350, 11" Coan
3.42 gears
3415lbs, 87 octane
Arizona air
I built it in 1998, daily driver since

It runs 12.0's at 111.7+ mph

Okay, now that we all know how W/P Sportsman and Edelbrock heads run, anyone know how Canfield SB heads run?

Not that it matters, but these will not be for me. Some people want shiny paint, some want shiny heads, some want shiny wheels. To each his own. I have all three.

Hey Brian,
Would you happen to have those cam specs? I'm just being curious, so if you don't no biggie.
Thanks, and can't wait to hear how yours does at the track!

Crane #110981

252/260 dur .050" and 106LSA

Previously with 10.5:1 compression he used the #110921 (244/252 dur .050" and 106LSA)

thanks Brandon, i'm looking forward to it. I have a few more things to wrap up. Know anyone with a high performance Power steering 67-68 set-up? i need the pulleys.

Lonnie, i have a few other suggestions that dont involve new heads.

Does pump gas still work ok with that 11.5:1?

I'm not looking for new heads, plus I'm broke. A buddy was asking about Canfields. In this heat his W/P iron heads are pinging like crazy. 102 yesterday, 109 tomorrow.

He uses 91 octane in the summer. It is his daily driver.
