I'm at the point of putting the engine back together and going through the check list...I bought a ''Comp Cam Kit '' with springs ,keepers , Cam lifters ect... I was warned of failures that are comming from standard hydraulic lifters...
Some reports I have found stated that only the G.M. parts that were OE replacements were the problem ..
Any comments would be welcome ..THANKS

is this failure attributed to the lack of oil protection found in common oils or bad lifters? Is it only hydraulics or solid flat tappets also??

I have broken in about half a dozen cams in the last 6 months..4 of them where Summit cam/lifters and the other 2 where Lunati cam/lifters..no issues here.We used EOS and either Pep Boys straight HD30 weight or Rotella 15W40 for start ups. These are mild flat tappet hydraulic cams too.
