Ok i found this searching the web, i dont exactly trust *this* company because i know nothing about them, however, they are offering what im looking for and ill use them as a reference:
http://www.revolutionaryperformance.com/ebay%20short%20block.htm

They have the same setup, minus the cam and timing set, but with a new balancer and flywheel instead, which is probably the road i would go. Do you guys know of anyone else who offers a quality fully assembled 383 shortblock, with flattop pistons, ready to go?

I was considering swapping heads and the cam again, however we just found out one of my rings might be going, so instead of doing the topend a 383 shortblock at the price above *or cheaper tongue.gif * would get me a hell of lot more bang for hte buck. And the best part is id be able to bolt everything right up from my current 350 (even though i hate the idea of using these heads, atleast it would run for hte time being, and better than this block).

So do you guys know of anyone else offering something like hte above, cheaper possibly? Are there any things that i need to know about bolting the current 350 "bolt-ons" to the 383?

Looks like a decent deal to me. If you're not sure about their work, you can always tear it down for a thorough inspection of all clearances and tolerances. Looks to have a decent shopping list of name brand parts. Myself, I'd do that, after the fiasco I've had with the 455 in the Firebird. Was a fresh shop rebuild when my friend bought it, receipts and all. Lasted 800 or so miles, needed new cam, pistons, crank recut on rods and mains, and a line hone. If we would have torn it down for an inspection first, it'd probably be in the car running fine right now. But then again, the car wouldn't be mine now... ;)

ouch sounds rough, well the reason we are going for the fully assembled ready to bolt together is because we dont have the time nor the correct tools to do the proper build/check ourselves. Thats why im asking here to see if anyone knows of a quality place to get something i can trust to work smile.gif

I have a 350 4 bolt 010/020 block which is std bore at present. It's ready to go depending on what you want. It would actually probably be easier to set up bored over 30 which is probably what is going to happen to it.

If you aren't going to race the heck out of it then I have a turned down 400 crank, 400 rods, and hyper pistons.

That's one bottom end. You could also go with a Scat or Eagle cast or forged crank and use either 5.7 or 6.0 rods with the right pistons.

I have some extensively worked 461 heads with big valves, double springs which will flow about 240 cfm according to the builder. I have some stock small valve 461 (1.92/1.5) heads as well. And of course you can spend all you can manage on aftermarket heads.

If I were building a 383 for you I'd want to know what car, what weight, what trans, rear end, and application.

If you are just street and occasional strip and not pulling or racing then I'd stay with a cast crank, hyper pistons and keep my compression down. If you spend your money on heads, cam and valvetrain still keeping your rev limit to 6500 or so then you will have a dependable engine with plenty of street power.

If you want to race then have someone build you an engine that will compete with the car/bracket/yada you are going to race in.

BTW that cam on that site sucks. Their getting lift using 1.6 rockers.

The cam on that site is basically my performer RPM cam, almost identical to it (off by one degree on the intake and exhaust durations).

This motor is for my daily driven 1972 Chevelle. Right now it has a 350 with a performer rpm cam (mistake), rpm intake (will carry over), new hei that is causing a misfire (still diagnosising why, would carry over), 1 5/8 headers (will carry over), and 600cfm edelbrock carb (will carry over).

This is hooked to a th350 the previous owner had rebuilt. The rear is your standard 10-bolt open, im guessing 2.76's, i know im giving up a lot there but id rahter invest in a motor buildup.

The key here is that $1800.00 is basically my budget, give or take a 100, and thats after a few more paychecks mind you. THe biggest issue is that we DONT have the time, or tools, to assembled the bottom end correctly. I need to purchase the shortblock assembled and be able to start moving hte parts over to it, including my POS stock 350 heads, but heck i cant afford a shortblock and new heads.

If i can get a cheaper shortblock, say $1600 ish, ill get a voodoo cam, and use my edelbrock timing chain/gears which are less than 4 months old, to gain even more power.

I don't know you made a mistake with the cam.

It's just that 327s are not torque motors and need to turn some revs to get going.

You're trying to push a 3600+ lb car around with an automatic with no rear end with an engine that needs to be humping a little bit to get into that torque curve.

Check your PMs

its a 350 right now not a 327 tongue.gif

Yeah, well a voodoo 268 will change my low end numbers big time, if i through heads into that ill get close to the 400s. If i do the 383 shortblock ill be right aroudn the 400's with my normal heads and cam, with a 268 ill be low 400's, which leaves room to do heads later to pick up more if i have hte time/money before im off to college lol.
