1969,
i think one of the best out there is the hooker super comp header but for ceramic coat i would go with jet hot because it is space age technology and they gurantee them but if dont like either of those a company actually makes a rust proof kit so it will never rust's....let me know what you think?

Ordered my Super Comp Ceramic coated headers directly from Jet Hot and the driver header does not fit correctly to installed my bullet mufflers for racing. Pass side ok but even with clearancing the muffler (beating the heck out of muffler) still wouldn't clear trans crossmember. If this were a street vehicle I would send back so make sure you ask them about proper clearance for your application!

Jet Hot and Airborn Coatings are both a ceramic-type coating with a silver metallic finish. Different names for the same basic thing, just slight variations of the same product. Dynomax Ceramic Coated headers are the best bang-for-your-buck in coated headers, under $300.00 compared to over $500.00 for Super Comps. Depends upon what you need. All out race car-Super Comps. Street/Strip Car-Dynomax, Hedman, etc.

The Hookers are definitely pricey, but...

I bought a set of coated Patriot shorties. They appear to be Hedman knockoffs. The driver's side rubs the steering shaft. I called Patriot (Pertronix bought it; I think it was Thunderbird before) two weeks ago. Had to argue with them. Finally convinced them to give me a replacement driver's side.

Still waiting for it.

Patriot design: Could be much better (they could either shorten the #5 exhaust and still have plenty of plug clearance, or they could simply flatten a portion of the tube).

Patriot customer care: Could be much better

Would I buy Patriot again? No!

BTW, we put some Super Turbos on, to go with the headers. At idle the car sounds nice. At WOT it sounds great!

I agree with onovakind67 and CDN SS...if you want the best then a custom header is what you need to get. Be prepared to pay the price though. Headers, like anything else come in good, better and best. Decide what will fit your budget and go from there. Ed's, Lemons and Burns stainless have great web sites with lots of info. IMO, if this is a full tilt bracket car then spend the dough, if it is a street car that will see limited time at the drag strip then what ever you feel good with will work.

As already mentioned,Dynomax coated headers are certainly priced right and fit very well.No reason to really run anything else in most street applications.

Anyone using the Hedman Elites for smallblocks? These are the only ones I have found that specifically state they will fit GM angle plug heads.

My brother runs large tube Hedman Elites on a 350 with Dart II's (71 Chevelle). They fit pretty well, but are the straight plug versions. On the straight plug heads, the #1 plug boot is pretty tight, otherwise, everywhere else fits well.

If you have heads with raised exhaust ports, then I'd definitly consider a custom set from Lemons or something. Not only can they do equal lenght pipes, but they can do it while maintaining the maximum possible clearences in the engine bay, and above the ground. Who likes the drag a brand new set of ceramic coated headers? But its big big bucks to get a set.

I purchased Dynomax to save some bucks, but the best headers I have seen (not sure how they perform) have been Sanderson.
