I bought a 72 chevelle and the whole colunm was taken apart, so I got on at a swapmeet and put it in last night. Now I have lights, horns, wipers, ect. but it doesnt turn the motor over. I tested the starter with a screw driver and it turned the motor over. I am not worried about it running at this point and i am switching over to hei. I have a ppl and red wire going to the stater and the battery cable. A friend of my father is an old timer and he said alot of times if the ignition wont turn the motor is the fusable link he told me to cut it of and run just wire. well I did that and still nothing. I dont know what is wrong. I will be working on it later today. So any info will be greatly helpful.

is it an auto trans car?
if so, did you plug in the neutral safety switch on the column? it is right behind the ignition switch and has a 2 wire plug that goes to it.
if that's plugged in, is it adjusted properly?

Yes, it is an auto. Is it on the colunm it self? I pluged all the wires that where in the colunm back to the new colunm.

I found the problem, it was the nuteul switch but it was pluged in. I took it off and the part that goes in the colunm was snapped off. So thank you.
