Hello all,
I'm a regular reader here and the owner of a small block Corvette and spend most of my keyboard time @ Corvetteforum.com.
Anyway, I'm looking for some info on a General Kinetics cam # C1H-288-U. I have the cam card but it doesn't list lobe seperation. I know they are no longer around but a friend of mine had it in a 9 to 1 350 and it idled like a pro stocker but had a surprising amount of vacuum for the duration. Any help will be appreciated.

I bet it has a lsa of 110, if I remember correctly most of their cams I seen in the ads years ago were 110. I believe UDharold once worked there, maybe he'll chime in. Bob

my money is on 112. i was just reading that the lunati chief cam engineer was the designer for GK in the seventies, prior to comp cams prior to ultradyne (his own co.) is that UDharold you mention above?

i have an old GK cam in storage. it was just broken in for a short time then removed along with the lifters (which i kept marked for matched position.) it was a sweet cam in a modest 350 but not nearly hot enuff for the 406 i built. dont know why i kept it but you never know.

Yes, Mr. Brookshire just may have designed the cam in question.

I ran a 270/270/.454/.454 GK cam years ago in a 350, mild gears-3.54, weiand dual plane, 1 3/4" headers, 9.5-1 compression, double hump heads, holley 750 vs, th350, in a 73 Nova. Spanked quite a few cars on the street with this combo. LSA was 110. Excellent midrange power, a little soggy down low-probably as a result of my inexperienced tuning skills at that time, fun though.

GK's were very popular in michigan, maybe since they were local, (Trumbell Ave. in Detroit). maybe cuz they were good, maybe both. when did they go out of business?

Didn't Harold say something about being in Bowling Green for at least several weeks going through "Corporate Training" by Holley or something like that a while back??

My answer is gonna be, wait a little bit more. I think I have some old GK catalogs in storage, but I know the C1H288U isn't one of mine. It was done the year after I left, but I'll try to talk to Don Teweles and see if he remembers.
However, that 270-.454 is, in the sense of being a copy of the original 268HE cam, which I designed. After I left, Don would make cams for companies who wanted them, like a copy of the 268HE, at $35 a copy in groups of 10.
I am going back to Bowling Green tomorrow, and will be there at least the rest of the week.
When I come back I will have to clean out the 6 weeks of messages on my phone, I may erase all but the last few.
And then again, I may have to return to Bowling Green next week.......
Anyway, having a LS1 Camaro to drive around in IS a lot of fun....

UDHarold is the coolest cam designer on the planet. Takes the time and effort to answer our questions and likes fast street cars too. Yellow 72, pardon my ignorance but, what is "ttt" ?
