Does anyone know what kind of oil the factory put in the power top pump on convertibles? I have a 66 SS396 conv. Thanks

Ive been told you can use automatic trans fluid, but I wouldnt do it..im sure there is a specific hydraulic fluid for it because auto trans fluid had detergents in it and may not be good for the seals..

thanks drptop70ss: I'll have to wait till Monday and see if a chev dealer knows. I haven't added any oil in the 25 years I owned the car and would like the same oil in it. The temp is 95 and calm here, but can't get the top down.ron
