I just pulled off my intake and found that a leaky intake manifold gasket was the culprit for the coolant in the oil. anyways though, heres my real question......how do i drain out all the coolant/oil stuff? i pulled out the lifters to help drian put there are still big puddles in it. i would like to try and stay away from filling if back up with oil and priming the engine a bunch of times as i am 16 and have a part time minimum wage job and can't afford to buy a bunch of oil$$$$. thanks in advance for any reply's!!

When you pulled your lifters, I hope you put them back in the same locations. And, just mop up what you can with paper towels. You don't say just how bad this is..... does the inside look like brown whipped cream or just some water puddles? If its just puddles, you can probably get away with one oil fill then change after 15 miniutes of idle. If its the whipped cream, that's a little different. You'd probably want to use a priming tool till its clear, then using oil with an engine flush at idle till hot then drain and refill.

After cleaning out as much as you can, I'd drain the oil and leave the drain plug out. Pour a quart of new oil through the engine and out the drain opening to help flush out the nasty stuff. Then install the plug and a new filter with new oil. Run it about 5 minutes then change oil and filter again after checking to make sure the problem is fixed.

Also what works good is a Wet/Dry shop vac to suck out the antifreeze and oil from lifter valley.

the lifters have a wear pattern set into them from running on the particular cam lobe that they were installed on. They should be put back on the original lobe. If they are mixed up you could chance it but the best bet would be new lifters. Pushrods aren't that critical, I've mixed and matched them before without trouble. Lifters are cheap, check with Competition Products. Bob
