My son's recently purchased 1997 grand prix's transmission has no third gear. I think I'm finding out why the guy sold it. I know buyer beware anytime you buy used. The trans was supposedly rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. Anyway the mechanics thought it was the solenoids. Had them replaced, no go. So it looks like a rebuild or finding a used one, which scares me to death at this point. I really don't have the 2000.00 for new/rebuilt. How tough is it to rebuild one of these. Anyone in the KC area willing, able or capable? The shop wants 500.00 just to R&R. I'm sure that's a fair rate but this car has tapped me. Thanks for listening. Pete
