Hi, I have to replace the starter on my 1965 Chevelle that has the 283. My question does the starter turn clockwise or counterclockwise. When I went to order a starter the sales person asked do you need it clockwise or counterclockwise and so this is my problem. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like you need a different parts guy.

I think it probably is clockwise rotation because when I look it up on internet most part sites say clockwise rotation. I am not sure from which end. The parts person was not sure which one it took.
