I went to the track today. The track keep getting little rain showers. I only hooked up on good time and went 2 feet. I broke my left axle. The two runs I ran before the break I spun. My best time was 60' 1.896,1/4 11.828,MPH 119.6. I also put the car on the scales. 1/2 tank of gas trunk empty,no driver. 4025lbs..

Awesome. You know you've got good power when you're breaking axles.

That 119.6MPH sure looks good too.

Times are good graemlins/thumbsup.gif ,,not sure if I want to congratulate you on breaking an axle or not :D Track opens today finally and I might get a pass or two on the new motor, they are semi strict on the rollbar deal, might be able to sweet talk him though.

Congrats! That's a big old heavy car. Checked out your website. Very nice restoration. No doubt it's making some good power to get 2 tons through the traps at nearly 120mph graemlins/thumbsup.gif I love to watch those X body cars launch. Talk about some serious frame twisting :D Is that a Richmond box? How do you like it? I'll bet it's a lot of fun to drive on the street. Sorry to hear about your axle. I ran my car deep into the 10's with the c-clips even though they weren't legal ;) . This winter I installed Moser c-clip eliminators. You might want to consider this as well as an axle upgrade. I've been running Moser's c-clip axles for 3+ years now and they looked mint when I took them out to install the c-clip eliminators. Installing the c-clip eliminators is pretty easy. You can get the bearings pressed on the axles for ~$30. Having a sawzall to trim the axle housing is a big help. This can be done in a day without a lot of fuss. Again, congrat graemlins/thumbsup.gif

What kill me I have neve broke a axle with a posi rear end before. I will say the new eaton is working well. The 6 speed is a blast. I had a Doug Nash 5speed years ago. This is just as much fun with a extra gear. My engine works well with the OD. The first is a 3.27 so it get rolling good.I have a 3.55 in the rear so 4th is 4.36 5th 3.55, 6th 2.70. On the highway I can get 15mph @70mph. I am real happy with the cam it drives like a Comp280. It idles at 800rpm smooth. The track I run at said they are going under new NHRA rule on all cars 11.50et above no bar on a car with a roof. When I get to hook I will be below that. We will see what happens.

I must be having a stupid day, I can't find the website with the OP's car specs? Would be neat to look at, seeing his car is about the same on the pork meter as mine..

I just ordered some Moser axles this morning. I also saw were Super Chey was going to be in Belle Rose,LA March 5,6. I have not been to one since 1994. I might try to take the Biscayne to run and my 78 Malibu to put in the car corral.

with a car and driver Wt of 4225 my chart comes up with 564 RWHP and at 100% effiency it could run 11.39. Very nice

Don't know what you are using for a chart but it's wrong.
That number would be engine HP not RWHP. The formula used to arrive at this number was written in the 70's & 1/4 mile trap speed was measured differently then.
In the real world if you add about 25-50HP to the number it will be very close to correct.
I would guess right at 600 engine HP would be what this combo had in the car on that run.
Still very impressive & still a very cool car graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If you doubt this, input 2350lbs & 205 MPH & see what you get... Should be about 1560.
I seriously doubt many Pro Stock cars are making almost 1600 RWHP,,
If you gave them a very generous 10% driveline loss you are talking over 1700 engine HP ;)

Imp, you have a very heavy car to be going that quick and fast. With your drivetrain at about 87% efficient you must have about 585-590 H.P. at the flywheel.

I know this chart is correct, i will and can e-mail it to someone so the whole board can use it, it's very simple.

For the ImpBiscuit the chart says he used 505 RWHP and 86% effiency ( remember the tire spin) but at that and to go that fast it makes 626 FWHP and has the previously stated RWHP avail and will run the 11.3xxx if the car would ever get to 100% effiency in the 1/4 mile.

As for the prostock it tells me at 2350 lbs and 205 MPH it making 1580 RWHP, 1754 FWHP and will run 6.65 at 100% effiency.

Can someone post it here ? It's and excell spread sheet that's been right on for us and has correlated with out dyno #'s .

Mike..plus hey it's free smile.gif
