I have a junk yard chevy 350 transmission that I just put into a t bucket I am building. I drove it down the road and back and It only shifts once. There are 2 wire harneses coming out of the transmission. a 2 wire harnes on the passenger side and a 3 wire harness on the driver side. There is also a wire cable with a square block close to the end. I have not hooked up the cable or the wires. I do not know what the wires are for or what the cable is for. The engine I have is a 1964 straight 6 cylinder. Any info would be appreciated.:(

Sounds like it's a lock up TH350C tranny.

Can you take it back to the boneyard for an exchange?

BTW this might get better traffic in the trans. forum. :)

George,

The cable with the square end is the kick-down cable. It gets connected to the bottom of the carb throttle linkage. The square plug fits into a bracket that needs to be mounted on the intake manifold behind the left side of the carb. I do not know if there is such a bracket available for a straight six.
