I bought some Eaton take out stainless 2.19 & 1.88 valves for my 468 project awhile back from Competition Products. They look like good quality but maybe alittle heavy compared to Manley, Milodon etc. Anybody else here using them? What kind of spring pressures will they handle? Will they work for a solid roller application? I've been kicking around the solid roller idea but will probably go with a solid flat tappet setup, just don't want to loose a valvehead because I saved a few bucks. Bob

Those are the GM take out valves from the 454 HO's and 502's..several members here are running them with NO problems to report and I know a few as well.We ran those valves in a 468 w/a mild .629 lift Chet Herbert solid roller..mid 11 second ride

I ran those valves in a stock rebuild(except for the valves) of a '70 LS5 car. They work great and are a very good deal. You are correct though, they seem to be a bit on the heavy side. It shouldn't be a problem with a stock to mild race motor though.

Bob,
Eaton is a major valve supplier to both OE and aftermarket customers. Think they also bought TRW's valve manufacturing operations a few years ago, too. If you buy a replacement valve in a Federal Mogul/Sealed Power or Dana/Clevite package, chances are pretty good that it is actually an Eaton valve. Weight and finish may not be as good as some of the performance valves such as Manley, Milodon, SI but they are good strong parts with correct dimensions.

Good to hear, you guys set my mind to ease. These engine projects add up $$$, and with my budget I can't afford to do this thing again right away if it scatters. I appreciate all the help here. graemlins/beers.gif

Those takeout exhaust valves were advertised as "Inconel". I'm guessing they were not. Anyone know for sure?
Competition Products didn't return my E-mail when I asked them.

I have a set in my heads I have just done, and my machine shop said that with my roller cam, that has .629" lift. It would be about max. They said don't run killer spring pressure and you will be fine. If you are planning on running a large roller camshaft, I would say forget it. Run a Race-Flo or comparitive valve. Check out Competition Engineering for the take out valves, you can get them for peanuts. Good luck!

By the way, I think the springs that I am using are around 200 lbs seat pressure. I wouldn't go much larger than that with these valves. They are WAY better than stock! graemlins/beers.gif
