I'm going to changing the cam over in my zz4 sometime in the near future. Leaning toward the hot cam or the comp 276. Have not picked one yet though. My question is when I change over to the 1.6 rockers will I need to change the pushrods? Can anyone recommend a good spring for these rockers? The spring that comes with the hot cam kit seems to be pushing the limit.

As far as I know, the spring that comes with the Hot cam is exactly what you should use. And since it's the spring that already comes on the ZZ4 (doesn't it???), you don't have to change springs. Go to www.thirdgen.org (http://www.thirdgen.org) and look around the forums there. There are many guys with ZZ4's over there and I'm sure valve springs have been discussed.

Good luck!

I believe you are right. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. My understanding is that the spring is rated for .525. I was wondering since the hot cam lift is this with the 1.6 rockers would a stronger spring be better insurance.

A question I would have would be if the distributor gear is compatible with the COMP cam. The "hot cam" is compatible with the ZZ4 distributor, but is the COMP cam's gear compatible?

good question. I believe comp makes some cams that esp. for the LT1 and etc.

Aaron, a couple of years ago I put some comp 1.6 pro magnum rockers on my ZZ4 .They by themselves made a big difference. You could hear the difference! If you are going to the trouble of replacing the cam, I would put more came in than the hot cam. I'm running a comp xe292 roller with 12.65:1 compression. The heads are ported and it runs 12.2 @ 113 in a 3500lb 69 chevelle. I figure my lift with the new cam and 1.6 rockers around .574 / .597. I'm building a bbc now, but i'm still running the stock springs and lifters in my ole ZZ4. It has run 11.40 @ 119 with this set up and a 125 shot. As far as I know , you shouldn't have to chage the push rods.
