kettbo Apr 30th, 07, 9:57 PM Ben,
Not a bad pic considering this was taken by your cel phone!!!!! I'm gonna see what elso I can do to clean-up my car's appearance before the show. My Elky gets out of prison at Les Schwab's in the morning. The guys there like the car, the gate guards make favorable comments each morning and last week two different times youngsters of 18-22 made nice comments off post during lunch.
I'm still trying to link up with the dude selling the spare doors....
Start picking on Brent to give up on Mouse motors and give his 68 blue and black Elky what it really needs, RAT POWER!
gotago May 1st, 07, 6:01 PM The real question that remains to be answered is which one is faster? Will it be the new (mystery) colored Asome69 or the Charity Rat that gets the most squeeze for the cheese..................
Either way it'll be a good race!
kettbo May 1st, 07, 7:35 PM Mark,
As of now, it would appear a hands-down advantage to Ben! He already has his gears in and his 454 is broken in! Always a caveat.... Ben's car is in the lock-up for several weeks so he'd be a no-show at Last Call to the staging lanes. I got my Elkys outa the lock-up at Les Schwab this morning. So for now, I'm the KING!
Remember, I'm making a mild engine, low buck, low tech, as I'd have built for Ben had he not gone cratzy. Big advantage of the crate engine is you get your car up and running right away. I've a few more things to gather for my BBC. I anticipate a close race when the BBC is in my ride.
I got your PM a few mintutes ago. I look fwd to seeing your Chevelle.
Reservation Road by Yelm? Have not had the Elky out that way. All over post, all over Lakewood but never hauling logs.....just 2x4s and drywall stuff from Lowe's to the house.
At lunch I picked up 2x Elky doors for the future...the dvr door is pretty solid though far from pretty, the passenger door is rough but has usable parts. $75 for the pair.

Not yet, but i did talk to him yesterday and got an update...
Says, Frame is now straigtened (says it was hit HARD at some point in the past) car has been sanded down to the original paint and now is in high build getting ready to be blocked. Says the front clip is mostly reassembled now.
I asked when the drop dead date i needed to get him my paint color choice was, he said EOD Friday or BOD Monday... so they really are hauling ass on it. I may get it to the Smokey Point show afterall!
Said they found some wacky 1980s-esq "ZZ Top" stripes on the side- said his pics should show them faintly.
I'm getting excited.
As of now (changes hourly) the current winning color choices are:
1. 2002-2004 VW Silverstone Grey metallic (gunmetal grey)
2. 2007 Cadillac Crimson Pearl Metallic (think dark burgandy)
3. Some sort of non-metalic bright red (basic muscle car color)
No matter which color I pick, it will retain the black lower body stripe, and will get the 68 ss stripes that run above the body line and up and over the header panel.
As soon as i get some pics I will definitely post em!
66 Buick Special May 2nd, 07, 2:12 PM Ben, Have you seen the Elky at Kompact? Black with red deck stripes. I haven't stopped but it sure looks nice from the road.
RAMBO May 2nd, 07, 3:13 PM here are some pics i've gathered... 1970 shadow gray metallic. I'm diggin it. Tossed between this, and the 2004 VW color (last pic in the album)

gilby246 May 2nd, 07, 3:45 PM I vote for shadow gray !!!!!!!!
gotago May 3rd, 07, 12:24 AM What happened to the Racing Green? I even had a guy that could flame it in silver for ya.
66 Buick Special May 3rd, 07, 12:48 AM Mark, I voted for Racing Green/Forest Green too... but what do we know LOL :)

Another one of my flip flops ;) I've had many in this decision making process!
But seriously, I am really digging the 1970 shadow gray color- 99.99% sure thats what I'm going to do... check out my album again, I found more pics of the color and added them. That color RULES!

66 Buick Special May 3rd, 07, 12:58 AM I like that color a lot too, but with black accents.. I personally didn't care for the car with the white deck stripes in your album. At least in the pictures it didn't do anything for me.
gotago May 3rd, 07, 1:40 AM Grey is a cool color too, but it definatly needs something to break it up. If my car didn't have the black roof, it'd have some kind of stripes on it to make the silver pop.
I like grey.......PRIMER GREY!:D

My car will have the lower body painted black, and will have the 1968 SS stripes in black running above the body chrome, and up and over the header panel.
Also- remember i have a elcamino, So there is a big black vinyl tonneau cover-on the back, so it will have some black accents to set off the color.
I don't really like the pic with the white stripes either, but it seems most of them have black.

Wow! Dave, that car has come along way since i saw it at the Tacoma show 2 years ago... WHat kind of wheels are those?
Do you know what color you're going to paint it? Take my advice- Figure it out now, BEFORE you get it into the shop!
gotago May 3rd, 07, 2:27 AM Oh c'mon Ben you still have lotsa time to change your mind:D

Thanks, it's not even really the same car anymore. You'll be quite amazed at what all has happened to it since then.
Those are actually the wheels off of My 2003 S-10 ZQ3
Haven't decided on the color yet, right now the default color is #21 Dark Forrest green, like my first Chevelle. It's gonna be quite awhile yet. gotta finish all the mods, and they are gonna be quite extensive. Plus, a Convertible, and a new house/shop, are probably in the works. Just hoping that I can pull it all off.
