Trying to figure out if it's worth picking up a 468 just rebuilt with Cast pistons, cast crank, stock rods, and then pull it apart, balance it with forged and slap it back together. Stock oval port heads freshened up, stock cam. I'm currently running a pretty much stock small block, and would like to swap in a big block. I think I can pick it up for about $750, no intake. Just wanted to know if it's worth it to get the heavy chevy out on the pavement with a BBC. Any thoughts are appreciated.

No thoughts? The guy still has it up for sale, but wanted to see if it's worth the effort.
I wouldn't waste your time if you are going to change out the rotating assembly for forged stuff. Might as well start with a good block and heads for less and go from there. $750 isn't bad if all you did was add a nice cam and good intake. Just my though on the deal :)

WOW! blocks alone go for $500 down here, if i was closer i'd buy that engine. around here i could part it out and make $. i actually need to rebuild my 396, if i came across a deal like yours, it would be in the back of my sprint, heading to my garage.....not trying to disagree with jwa, but it's interesting to see what prices are regionally, what's junk to some, is gold to others.

You should buy that yesterday. Heck, running 454's seem to be getting $1k, so if you can get a fresh one for cheaper than that what are you waiting for?
