Worked on chevelles for 25 years and never had this happen. Took my 70 for a ride . It sits most of the time waiting for me to finish it. 35 miles on new engine but i`ve had it running 5 years doing other work to body. Took it out tonight and put new front headlight doors and new SS front signal lights . Powdercoated all the headlight buckets and installed new adjusters . Drove about two miles . stopped at stop sign and made right turn. Smelled trans fluid and got smoke inside car since the floor plugs are out during body work phase. Get THIS ! The 3 inch round valve on the passenger side of the 350 turbo blew out of the transmission and lost all the transmission fluid. I got lucky to get it back to a hill then coasted to my driveway. Got it up on lift and found missing valve. Drove down the road and found one piece. I gues i need to see my tranny guy for a new rebuilt one. FIRST TIME I`VE Ever heard of this happening. NIGHTMARE TESTDRIVE AT MIDNIGHT !

Sounds like the modulator fell out..shouldn't be a big deal. There is a little hold down w/ a bolt that keeps it in place.

Or was it the governor cover?
