hey was checking my vacuum advance on my msd pro billet distributer...and i was not advancing. car running with vacuum line off 12 degrese then with it on same reading. vacuum hose hooked up to port that has vacuum at idle. so i take cap and rotor off and check with vacuum pump same thing it does not activate advance. i take of pod and there is a hole in back of the pod that seems to be creating a leak. the hole is a factory hole. what gives. i tried to plug hole with finger and i can register vacuum on the gauge but the rod does not move at all. HELP. tommy

You will need to pull the distributor and take the drive gear off in order to pull the shaft and replace the vacuum can. The good news is that the cans are relatively cheap (less than $10).

actually on the msd you can remove a snap ring around the shaft and lift up on the pickup plate just enough to get the pod out. i did that last night. that is how i tested it with a vacuum pump out of the distributor itself on the bench. i was told that this is a standard pod and i can run a chevy one if i purchase one from napa...any thoughts? thanks tommy
