Does anyone know the correct length of the driveshaft for a 71 Chevelle 454 when installing a TKO-600. I'm heading to the driveshaft shop tomorrow to have one shortened for my El Camino 700r4 conversion and figured while I was there, I might get them to balance the one for my Chevelle and install the yoke. Problem is, I'm not sure it's the right length (it's 52.5", excluding the trans yoke)

what differental is in there now? just measure it, install the yoke about 1/2 inch from the dust boot and measure from the center of where the u-joints would go.

I know that chevy 5 speed has the lengths for the standard models of chevelles. They have done so many driveshafts that they now know what size you would need. Give them a call.

It's a 12 Bolt rear. If I measure, with the yoke out 1/2 inch from the dust boot, do I want the rear jacked to normal ride height? Will the 1/2 inch measurement be ok during normal suspension travel. Also, does anyone know the original length of the drive shaft with a t350 or pg? The one I have (51-1/4" center to center of u-joint) was removed from another chevelle that I use to own. The previous owner had changed up the motor frame mounts, and was using a long tailshaft t-350. I returned the frame mounts to the original location, converted the car to a 700r4, and if I remember correctly; I had to change the drive shaft because it was to short.

That's what I figured, enough conversions have been done that someone should be able to give me a number without me trying to ensure I get the correct measurement. Plus, the car is disassembled at this time. I figured if I could get the correct measurement from someone on here, I'd go ahead and have my driveshaft shortened or have a new one made if mine is too short. Kinda hard getting over to the Driveshaft shop, so while I was there tomorrow I was thinking of killing to birds with one stone.
