: need help with value for '69 SS
warmule Apr 29th, 07, 9:37 PM Greetings,
I need your help and opinions in establishing a ballpark value for this vehicle. I have not seen it yet as I live in CA and its in AZ, but I plan on going in the near future.
I realize its difficult with the limited pics and info, but all things being equal..........how would you ballpark-price it based on what we know.

Thanks for your time..........Jeremy
bc69ss Apr 29th, 07, 9:39 PM I would think 25-30k if everything is as nice as they describe it.
Bunz-T Apr 29th, 07, 10:03 PM I was high bidder on E-Bay for this car at $20K. They 2nd chanced me at $29,500. As I have stated the 69 auto cars are a little soft and this car better be awfully right to pay $27500. Look at the info I left on the other current thread for 69 values. This is a nice value.
warmule Apr 30th, 07, 4:11 AM Thanks for the info guys. Any other thoughts would be welcomed.
John, please excuse me I'm a little slow some times, but what do you mean by "69 auto cars are a little soft"..???
Also, I found your other 69 thread. I tend to agree with your estimation of the numbers, especially from the research I've been doing. I'm finding the '69 SS is a frustrating year to pursue without really good documentation. I was looking to buy one several years ago, but other things took priority. I've only recently starting looking for a Chevelle again after selling my Corvette a few years ago. I have to remind myself not to be too hasty.......
Bunz-T Apr 30th, 07, 7:47 AM Jeremy By soft I mean you get along pretty good trying to sell one up to $20K but the closer you get to $25K the harder it is. After that the car better be special. Now my reasoning is based on a guy like me who buys them details them and then sells them. A dealer will give the same money I do and mark it up $6-10K and wait months for the right fish. I buy 69s because:
1. I truly like the styling
2. Because nothing designates it as a SS but the build sheet people will not pay a premium. You tend to get a whole lot more car for less money than a 67 or 70. Granted these two are easier to turn if bought within their value range.

Maybe 27K IF <------big if
Gazzer Apr 30th, 07, 10:33 AM The car is described in their ad as "Triple Black" which it is not. It would have a vinyl top if it was triple black. They state it as a numbers matching car but no claim in the ad to any documentation. What do they have to prove this claim ? Let us know if you go and look at it.

BlackSSaz May 1st, 07, 8:30 PM I went to look at the RED 69 that same dealer has about 3 weeks ago. He told me at that time that the black car you are looking at was sold for 31k. He also spent alot of time trying to convince me that the red car was NICER than the black car, and he did NOT stop representing the RED car as an original 350HP car after I established with him IN PERSON that the car was really a 325hp car.
FWIW - he was asking 27.5 for the red one and told me his bottom line price was 25.7, after I offered him 22.5 for it and told him I wouldnt go any higher. Im guessing he is holding out for 29k on the black one if the same mark-up is implied.
This dealer lost all credibility with me when he continued mis-advertising the RED car, after he and I looked at the numbers together, and then looked at the book and confirmed it was a 325hp car. Buyer beware.
I would offer to go inspect the black car for you, but I am pretty sure I am not welcome on his lot anymore. lol :beers:
704EVER May 1st, 07, 8:50 PM It looks like there's some pretty SH$TY pictures of this car to even be asking that kind of money. No close ups of anything , should make everyone think twice.
BlackBetty May 1st, 07, 8:50 PM You should be ashamed of yourself being an educated buyer.....LOL
warmule May 2nd, 07, 2:40 AM Thanks for the heads up BlackSSaz........ I have tried to email him with questions, but no response so far.
If the red one is nicer why ask more for the black one........very sketchy. Maybe he's basing the price on the whole "matching numbers" deal.
I'm still curious to learn more about it, but very much on the alert with this guy.
Chris R May 2nd, 07, 2:58 AM I have never been a fan of buying a classic car from a dealer in the first place. But thats just me personally.
Bunz-T May 2nd, 07, 7:06 AM This is just an example of the difference in price between a bench seat /column car and one with buckets. This market is adjusting and the less desirable cars will take the biggest tumble. Be patient and careful and we will give you all the help we can.

I'm still curious about my question
BlackSSaz May 4th, 07, 6:07 PM He told me the black car was on consignment, but the red one he owns outright.
If you want some real sticker shock, drive about 4 miles north, and look at this one:

well that one has a Jensen stereo in it, no wonder they're asking $42,900.
