This was on my wish list, and was planning to bid up to an outrages price of $650.00 (in my mind), but the bidding went into the stratosphere in the closing minutes and seconds. The going price just a few years ago was four to five hundred dollar range. Is this what is needed to spend for a non-functioning 67 AM/FM with multiplex?

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. The last 67 AM-FM I had went for $900. here locally. I guess I shoulda put it on ebay. It played to.

The multiplex unit is looks like a '66, not a '67. Or it could be a '65 4-speaker unit for an Impala/Caprice?.

You should have bought every one you could find in the $500.00 range.
because they have been much higher for much longer than you think.
5-6 years ago $900.00 was the norm for just an AM/FM not including a multiplex.

I will say what I always say. these were options, not every car had one.
the optional original GM equipment brings good money because it is desirable.
what part of that don't you guys understand?

I would say most of us understand that. I'm sorry I did not know that $1500 was normal for a 40 year old radio that doesn't work. I don't care how desirable it is, that is just ridiculous (in my opinion). :clonk:

I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad that they bought a non-working radio for $1500, to each their own. We are all in this hobby for different reasons, and that makes the hobby great, but I have trouble seeing eye to eye with the type of people that need a radio that bad.

everybody complains when they want to buy something and the price is (in their opinion) rediculous. Never hear anybody complaining when they are the selling end and the final price is high. Lots of people have lots of money. If they want something bad enough, more power to them for the ability to buy what they want no matter what the cost.

I have no problem with it. I think it seperates the Men from the Boys.
A car that is restored with original GM parts and options will always be more valuable than a car that is restored with Chinese re-pop catalog parts.

so here is to those that have the $$$$$$$!
Spend it if ya' can!

When I decided I wanted an original AM/FM for my 66, I spent about a year watching the price go up up and away on ebay. I finally decided it wasn't going to get better so I bought one for $500...and it didn't work. Another $500 later on the professional resortation from an expert, & I was the proud owner of a working original AM/FM mono radio in my elky.
No regrets...its the right part, looks great, and works.

I've spent money far more foolishly than that in my lifetime.

I think Im going to start collecting am fm radios and selling them I find them at yard sales once in awhile, Heck almost bought a am radio for a late 50s studebaker, but thought the 5 bucks could be better spent on a coke at the local burger joint. Jim
