hey guys,
ive got a box of arp head bolts for use with my dart big m and afr 315s. the part number is 135-3707. then it says underneath "mark v block." well, my dart m is a mark iv right?
reason i ask is cause most of the head bolts fit, but the one in the very front and the one in the very back are just slighty too long... and ive searched the kit to make sure there arent some slightly shorter ones...
is this the wrong kit?
thanks guys

That is the correct set or at least the correct part number.
The difference in the bolts is the Dart, World, Bowtie & MkV have blind holes & the early bolts are too long.

hmmmm well, those 4 corner bolts (2 in each head) are too long by about a washer's width. what should i do? cut the bolt? double the washer? get another from you/afr/arp?
how many different lengths should be in the kit? i have 3 lengths... medium, long and short...
thanks mike

You should have 8- 5" , 8- 2" & 16- 3.960"
If so you have the correct bolts.
ARP does have a new set of bolts for these heads that I wish AFR would adopt but haven't yet as they are stupid expensive from ARP at this time. Jobber is like $206
What they did was change to 8- 5.250", 8- 2.180", 12- 4.180" & 4- 3.960"
Your problem is not the bolts.
Some Dart blocks are not tapped deep enough on the end holes
BTW, most Dart blocks are not tapped correctly for the stock bellhousing bolts as well as the filter bypass.
What I do is retap the corner holes but you can shorten the bolts too as they go deeper than any of the other ones anyway.

Don't have an exact answer for you...but....
We went through this recently with Brodix heads on a Dart Big M. The *official* Brodix ARP kit had only one stud that would work. The rest were too long or too short.
We tried another and got by with some double washers.
Then we got some directly from Brodix....didn't work either.
The next time motor was apart we measured it all and ordered them as individual studs from ARP.
Got a small fortune wrapped up in various head studs now!!
ARP needs to go out and slap a head or two on a block and see how far off many of these kits are these days!! Or at least call Dart, AFR, Brodix etc and see what the heads actually measure.
