I put one together using the Proform main body and one billet metering plate. The other metering plate, the two bowls, and base plate are Holley. It is kind of a Frankenstein carb, but it works great!!! Gained 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile with it. If this is any indication of what a full blown ProForm carb is like, I would definitely recommend it.

Does the proform body come with an assortment of air bleeds or do you have to buy some special kit for them? I had a 950HP holley and had a hell of a time trying to find assorted air bleeds for the thing.

you gained 4 tenths just by switching carbs?????!!!!! You must have had a completely mismatched carb before huh.

You have to buy them. Summit or Jegs should have them.

Mike Holley sells a air blead kit. Similar to their jet kits. I dont remember the part number. But it should be listed on their web site.

I believe that I did have a mismatched carb. I was running a Holley 750 vac. secondary carb. I guess my 388 stroker needed more carb. The ProForm made much more of a difference than I expected.

4 tenths switching from a 750 Vac secondary to a Proform Main body??.

Daniel, Please don't take offense to this as I am not going to dispute you improved after modifying the carb but it reminded me of one of those Infomercials where they say "Results Not Typical" or "Results Will Vary".

Assuming nothing else was changed even in the least, the improvement you made is typical of what can happen when the secondaries not opening all the way with the original 750 and then getting it just right once you modified the carb. This is so often an overlooked check. There are many, many cars out there giving up ET and mph simply because their throttle blades are not exactly vertical.

Since an ET Gain of .4 is likley attributed to at least .1 and maybe even .2 improvement in 60 ft it is also possible your accelerator pump adjustment or accelerator pump tuning improved as well.

Or Since you made it into a DP, very likely the original 750 VS wasn't properly tuned for optimum performance.

you may have already thought of these possibilities as I do not know the extent of your knowledge and experience but I just don't want some others with possibly less experience to think they can bolt on a Proform Main body and pick up .4 tenths in an already quick mid 11 second car (Nice camino BTW).

I agree with you Tom, my .4 gain was probably not typical of what most may get. I was delighted none the less. I had done all I could with the 750 vac. I was running the lightest spring possible, and it was jetted for the highest mph in the quarter. I'm sorry if I have led anyone astray. I'm just sharing my experience with you all. I just really like the carb! smile.gif
