Those aren't the correct wheels for 1971.

ummm.... Part of me just wants to call that guy an idiot. The only thing chevelle about it anymore is the rear bumper. On the other hand.... if you wanted to replace every panel you'd have one nice new chevelle when you were done.

it's still not worth it.

Looks like he painted the bumper, see the overspray on the trunk.
Going for that original factory overspray look I guess!

Hello, it's a race car not a street car; race cars get beat up. I fail to see the problem with the car or why this is in the Restoration Corner and not Bench Racing or What's It Worth.

I agree with Dale, pretty much the normal hobby stock / street stock race car in this area.

That was the hades my 69 ended up in after I sold it! If I had known they were going to kill it I would never have sold it to them. All you can hope is it was a beat up shell when they started.:)

Yeah i actually founf a 65 recently that has no engine or trans pretty well beat up but it does have a 12 bolt in it. I was thinking about getting it putting the rear in my 66 and then turning it into a road racer to flog on the weekends. I bet it would be unique. Just my opinion but better to be racing the thing like that than sending it to the crusher isnt it?

I don't see why everyone is upset ........ thousands of old chevys ended their lives this way ....... I think it was great seeing them out chasing gold on the dirt tracks rather then squashed on the way to the smelters !!

Is it me or does it look like this guy opened up the window openings?

Might be a sin but for all you know this thing was converted into a race car several years ago.

On the other hand would it be wrong if I did it to a Chevelle that was pretty rusty and didn't have a title? (Yeah I know of someone who has one like this)

I don't know if it's still around, but there's a guy in town here that runs a 68/69 on the short tracks. He said that it was cheaper than some of the "newer" cars to run since they have so many parts still readily available. He said the car was wrecked, and too bad to restore, but good enough for roundy round racing.

Back in 95 I had my 1969 SS, paint code 72, Chevelle sitting in my yard a few days from the start of a 2 year frame-off. A Sherriff's Deputy stopped out front. I thought I was in trouble for something......Then he asked me about my Chevelle. I proceeded to tell him that an orange 69 meant it was a reall SS, the body is in good condition, the original 12 bolt and turbo 400 was still in it, as well as the console & buckets, I have a 69 Chevelle 375/396 to put in it and how I'm going to restore it.
I felt REALLY lucky to find this car and told him so.

Then he blows my mind and asks me if I'd sell it for $500. He wants to make a dirt track racer out of it........If he wasn't law enforcement I would have given him a lecture he wouldn't have forgotten........I just told him no thanks.

When the car was done, just after it took 1st place at a Super Chevy Show, he was on patrol and saw the car. HE STILL DIDN'T GET IT! He said it would have made a better dirt car! I hope he watched Barrett Jackson lately......
