Ok, I am trying to install a new accelerator cable on my 71. What is the trick to geting the little ball like think into the pedal bracket? I have pushed and pushed but no go. Any advice?

Take a small screwdriver and get the plastic bushing out of the pedal. When the bushing is out LOOK at the bushing> It has 4 cuts in it and ONE cut goes all the way through the bushing, Pull the old cable out of the cut in the bushing, insert new one then push the bushing back into the throttle pedal. GET ER DONE !! Bob

The above instructions is the trick. You must remove that nylon bushing, put the cable threw the rod and slip the nylon bushing on the cable, than push the bushing back into the hole in rod. Its possible to break that buching, than you will have a hard time getting another one, unless you have a vender close by
