my chevelle has surface rust on the floor pans underneath, the inside still shows original paint, what is the best way to get rid of this rust, I do not plan to take the body off the frame, but do however want a nice underside. I have heard alot of talk about POR15, does this stuff work as good as they say it does?:)

POR 15 works ok and so does Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator. They will both seal out the water/air and stop the rust BUT it MUST be properly prepared by first removing all contaminants (dirt, oil, grime, undercoating, etc.). The surface must be roughed up for proper adhesion by way of sanding with no finer then ~120 grit or sand blasting. POR claims right on the can that it bonds best to rusty surfaces and sand blasted surfaces, but the rusty surfaces must be free of all "loose" rust, and a wire wheel doesn't leave a rough enough surface. POR also may require you to use the Metal Ready if the metal surface it to smooth.

Getting these products off at a later date is also a major PITA. Rust creep is also still an issue with these products.

Even with all the warnings it is still a better alternative then leaving the rust to grow...

Just my opinion based on my own experiences.

Good Luck
