Hey, A few months ago a spun a bearing in my Vortech headed 355, ruined the crank and a rod, and cam. So...i was planning to buy a $99 dollar replacement crank and i already have another stock rod to replace the bad one, all my pistons are still fine. But i have been thinking. How much it cost to do a 383 at this point. I already have to take the block to the machine shop for new cam bearings, so i could get clearancing done, but how much will that cost?. If i just bought a 383 crankshaft can i just use my stock rods and pistons. I know that i could use the stock 5.7 inch rods in a 383 but unsure of the pistons. If i have to buy new pistons im probably just going to pick up a replacement crankshaft and a summit cam and get the engine back together. Im in college and just want to get the engine together for cheap, and i know i could for about $250 at this point just replacing things. Just wanna see how much more a 383 setup would run me. Thanks

You will need different pistons, a 400 damper and flywheel and it will need to be balanced, block will have to be honed for the new pistons for proper fit depending on type of piston. will be much more than $250.00 Jerry
