does anyone know where i can find an ignition switch wiring harness for a 68 SS velle? Also, how hard is it to replace the lock cylinder inside the switch?

You can get a dash harness from M&H and probably others. A Chevelle .PDF catalog is available from them here http://www.wiringharness.com/wiringharnesses.htm

Never replaced a 68 lock but we have a couple of super 68 gurus that I'm sure will be along soon to help in that department.

Lock cylinder is a piece of cake, do you have the key? If so, insert it in the cylinder and turn towards ACC, insert a paperclip in the small hole beside the key and continue to turn towards ACC and it will stop turning and then just pull the key/cylinder out. Reverse procedure to reinstall.

Do you need the entire Dash harness or just the section of it that connects to the switch. I have a "Parts Harnes" That has this connector. If thats what you need it's yours just pay shipping.

The ignition switch connector is connected to the main dash harness. To replace the ignition connector on the dash harness, you would have to remove each individual wire from the plug/connector. I've been able to remove the wires from some plugs by sticking a tiny screwdriver into the slot around the wire and bending the clip back that holds it from sliding out. Then the wire/clip will slide out. I'm not sure if this works with the ignition switch plug, but it might be worth a try if you don't want to spend the $400 for a new dash harness.

Or you could cut the wires and solder them together. Just a thought.
