moonie527 Apr 26th, 07, 10:01 AM It looks like a Hot Wheels car.

glennslanaker Apr 26th, 07, 11:25 AM actually, you take off the ridiculous wheels/ tires this car is fairly tastefully done for one of these. i like the interior. the cowl hood could be a bit lower. but not for $16,000.
BIG EVIL CHEVELLE Apr 26th, 07, 11:43 AM I agree, lose the wagon wheels and it wouldn't be a bad project
animal69 Apr 26th, 07, 12:20 PM Anyone want to start to collect money towards buying this thing. We could then have a party at the crushers!:beers:
ChaosEnvy Apr 26th, 07, 1:07 PM Other than the wheels the car is nice. Excellent Stereo system. I'm familiar with the amp/speaker manufacturer and 1 of those 15" is enough a car. Definately can go deaf in there.
Buy the car, sell the rims, tires, for around $2,000 or so... buy some $150. welds and consider that as part of your bid. If you pay 6,000 you will be getting 1,000 or so back after selling the wheels/tires.
chevelless1 Apr 26th, 07, 1:15 PM early Unique Whip car

The BIN is 16k.. so that means 15K for the car and 1k back from the nasty wheels and tires? I guess you could sell the horrid, I wanna shake the ground, speakers but they would probably only pay to replace the damaged panels they came out of. I don't think its such a good deal on that car.
Even without the big wheels that car is no where near the condition required to be worth $16k. Typically the $16k Monte will be a under 5k mile showroom condition stocker. IMO $6k is more realistic for a price. Even then I would want a cleaner engine compartment. IMO anything over 18s looks out of place for the Montes. I have had 15-17s on mine.
glennslanaker Apr 26th, 07, 3:14 PM i am seeing A LOT of dreamers on ebay lately, i look on there at lunch most days, so i see a lot of cars. i mean folks dreaming BIG like this guy. i've been keeping my eyes open for a 60's eldorado conv and i can't believe what folks are wanting for something like a deville coupe, like $9000 for one in average condition. i can only guess these folks aren't serious about selling, just looking for a sucker.

I agree. The 10k plus Monte SS cars are the ones that are low mileage or something that is the nicest of the nice. Those of us that are into the G body crowd notice that these cars are the most common use with the big ugly donk wheel crowd. We dont like it any more then the rest of the car guys with good taste, meaning the rest of the world. Lose the rims and that car would be much nicer.
depley Apr 27th, 07, 3:46 AM Personally it is my belief all goofy looking cars like that MUST include a picture of the owner, just so we can see what these nuts look like.
TripleWhiteSS454 Apr 27th, 07, 10:53 AM That car caused me temporary blindness. Yikes!
Have to partially agree with JWA's comment, but only if you're referring to a non-SS first gen Monte Carlo. The realistic prices for '70 & '71 SS454 Montes and the '72 Monte Carlo Custom equipped with a 454 ("W" code) in #1 (maybe high #2) condition go for $30k and up. A super clean non-SS Monte would probably bring about half that. Some of our club members have sold #1 condition SS cars or the very rare BB 402 4-speed cars for far more than $30K too. There were only 3,823 SS Montes made in '70, only 1,919 made in '71, and only 1,268 "W" code Monte Carlo Customs made in '72, so they're rare and highly valuable -- well to us first gen folks anyway.
But hey, if you find a #1 or even a #2 condition Monte SS for sale for $15k, please let me know. I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
Actually I was only referring to the 4th gen Montes in my post as the was what this topic was about.
