I know value is in the eye of the beholder, but just wondering before i get to deep into it. I bought a 1970 Malibu (had a body man look at it) car is rust free, convertible top in great shape all chrome spotless, interior all new. 6 cyl motor rebuilt 2000 miles ago (trying to find out if original Motor, i believe it is). new gas tank, coils, brake line brakes, car is a driver as is and is in excellent overall shape. So just wondering in this market what should this car sell for? I bought it with the intentions of making it look like an SS, still trying to decide what motor i will drop in eventually. But curious to see what car would re-sell for before we go crazy, which im told is the bug you Will catch once you start a project like this!

I too have the original 6cyl from my 70 malibu convert but have yanked it favor of a small block.
If I could go back in time and do it again I would have left it alone until I was ready to sell it (Just because when I did it I was a kid and didn't have the money/know-how to do it all right). I would drop in the engine/trans of choice and let that boost the price before I sold it.
My guess is as it sits with 6cyl, driver and 30 + years of wear and tear 5-6K.
Pictures always help if you have some. Good luck and have fun with the car.
BTW which trans does it have? If it has a powerglide you might want to change that too with the motor. Along with the torque converter.

Sounds like it might be worth a little more than 5-6k. Maybe 8-10k if it really looks good. It is a 70 convertible after all.
It's potential is certain wide open. To draw big money though you'd probably have to put a lot of money and/or time into it. Which might not gain you anything, except possibly a fun experience (if you're planning on driving it some before selling it).
The 8-10k range I'd think you could achieve now, by just making sure everything is clean and working well.
