When they say tightness in chest, does that mean like a feeling the pec muscle is flexing?
Just curious?

When it first started I noticed the tightness and couldn't catch my breath. When I had the clogged artery and the real heart attack I had pain in my left arm and shoulder, pain in my jaw, pounding in my chest, and dizzyness. Don't mess arround if you have a tight feeling in your chest and can't catch your breath it could be that your artery is partially clogged, when I had the heart attack my artery was 95% clogged. I have 2 stents in my arterys that was 5 yrs ago.

I had that feeling of tightness 3 times before the actual attack. all three times I was laying down(working under a forklift) or taking a nap and getting up is when I felt it.
After the first stent was put in I was told I had another branch vein that was clogged about 70% but with proper diet and medication it will clear up. move ahead 1 year and the doctor orders a stress test. He says I'm doing great. I ask him about the other vein , he is total dumfounded searching through my file. about 3-4 month later I am at work and push this buggy up a slight grade and I feel the tighness and can't catch my breath. go sit down and take a nitro. A couple hours later I'm having my second stent put in.

I had one April 1, 1996 and felt no pain. The only thing I felt was flu like symtoms and shortness of breath. I was in the doctor's office at the time and he sent me straight to the CICU. I had one stent put in then.

I had another episode that involved a lot of pain. It felt like someone had a strap around my chest and was tightening it. I got another stent from that one but no signs of a heart attack.

The term used in healthcare is: It feels like an elephant sitting on your chest. It can be percieved as many things however; a feeling of indigestion, pain in your jaw or shoulder/arm, difficulty catching breath or breathing. Dizziness, or lightheadedness. The fact of the matter is any number of different health conditions can change how any individual percieves the warning signs of a myocardial infarction (heart attack). The important thing is.....If for ANY REASON you believe you have symptoms, stop and call 911 it could just save your life. Don't drive yourself down to the immediate care center, and don't put off your upset stomach until tomorrow.

A lot of good men have died from "it's just a case of indigestion". I went to the doctor for what I thought was another gallbladder attack. Turned out to be a couple partialy clogged arteries. Not bad enough for stents but needed cleaned out. Tests I had showed the doctor had been wrong for over a year. I had no signs of gallbladder disease.:(

I am fine.
This was just a question that came up. I looked up Webmd to see if mentioned anything like the question I asked. I did notice other things I was not aware of though as signs of a heart attack. I thought the pain on the left side of your chest and left arm were the only signs.
I posted because I knew I would get a good answer.
My family does have a history of heart disease though.
I inherited my grandfathers BP monitor, because everyone else in my family already had one.

better to be safe than sorry, often times people die from what they thought was just common heart burn.

The first problem that I had was a dull ache in my chest when exerting myself and it would go away when I quit. Turns our one artery was almost completely blocked but the body was already in the process of bypassing on its own. Didn't know that this happened up until then. There is an intravenous drip, called Chelation Therapy, that was developed to get heavy metals such as lead, mercury, etc. out of your system. Over the years they found that it was also helping people with cholesterol buildup in their arteries. I've been taking these treatments since January 2003 on a monthly basis. Back then I could go about 3-4 minutes on the treadmill without chest pain. Now, after 10 minutes, all I do is perspire, huff, and puff a little. For many years this treatment was put down by the medical profession in a big way. Now, the results are pretty hard to ignore. It's just that the drug companies can't find a way to get rich from it. The doctor that I go to has been doing this treatment for over 20 years. Now there are quite a few doctors doing the treatment so I don't have to drive 3 hours to get one. From what I have seen, it is well worth looking into. Do a Google search and read up on it. There is one guy that comes up on the search who really puts the treatment down. Unless I was misinformed, he is on the payroll of a large drug company. Talk about vested interest. I don't fall for every quack type treatment that comes along but I saw results in others that is pretty hard to ignore. It's worth looking into.
